It's a mystery to me why loudspeakers should be small. No one wants the smallest Steinway piano. I love the aesthetic of horns. So in the main Mill system I have made no compromises about size. The sound is dispersed in such a way that you can enjoy music anywhere in the room. Image is of course to be found on axis, but the sound is entirely plausible anywhere in the room. Between the amplification (60watts according to the RCA literature, 200watts triode power before audible clipping according to the RCA lab reports) and the efficiency of the speakers, the system is able to credibly reproduce full scale symphonic works or anything else one could desire with no strain. And in a very large room.

The Mill's main speaker system. A combination of modified RCA basshorns from the 1950's using twin 15" woofers, RCA 1930's multicell horns using two RCA MI1428B field coil drivers per side, and another RCA MI1428B on the AH700 conical horn above. Upper frequency via the Fostex T825a Lab Series tweeters on wooden stands.
The Annoyingly complex crossover network for the main horn system. Lower left components are original 1930's RCA removed from their original enclosures. Fostex T825a Lab Series supertweeter with AH 700hz cast aluminum conical horn and RCA MI 1428B driver.
Main system amplifier rack. Top driver amp is AL4 in screen mode driving 300B, which then drive the RCA MI9355 push pull 845 booster amps below. These were created for the Fantasia Disney project in the late 1930's. Single ended driver stage into push pull output. One solution for achieving detail and power.
